Isaiah 11: 1-9

Isaiah 11: 1-9

There shall come forth a shoot from the stump of Jesse,
    and a branch from his roots shall bear fruit.
And the Spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him,
    the Spirit of wisdom and understanding,
    the Spirit of counsel and might,
    the Spirit of knowledge and the fear of the LORD.

And his delight shall be in the fear of the LORD.
He shall not judge by what his eyes see,
    or decide disputes by what his ears hear,
but with righteousness he shall judge the poor,
    and decide with equity for the meek of the earth;
and he shall strike the earth with the rod of his mouth,
    and with the breath of his lips he shall kill the wicked.

Righteousness shall be the belt of his waist,
    and faithfulness the belt of his loins.
The wolf shall dwell with the lamb,
    and the leopard shall lie down with the young goat,
and the calf and the lion and the fattened calf together;
    and a little child shall lead them.

The cow and the bear shall graze;
    their young shall lie down together;
    and the lion shall eat straw like the ox.
The nursing child shall play over the hole of the cobra,
    and the weaned child shall put his hand on the adder's den.

They shall not hurt or destroy
    in all my holy mountain;
for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD
    as the waters cover the sea.

Song for a Fifth Child

I have read this before and thought it was so sweet. Now that my fifth has long left her babyhood, it is even more poignant to me. Have you read it?

Song for a Fifth Child

By Ruth Hulburt Hamilton
Mother, oh Mother, come shake out your cloth,
Empty the dustpan, poison the moth,
Hang out the washing and butter the bread,
Sew on a button and make up a bed.
Where is the mother whose house is so shocking?
She’s up in the nursery, blissfully rocking.

Oh, I’ve grown shiftless as Little Boy Blue
(Lullaby, rockaby, lullaby loo).
Dishes are waiting and bills are past due
(Pat-a-cake, darling, and peek, peekaboo).
The shopping’s not done and there’s nothing for stew
And out in the yard there’s a hullabaloo
But I’m playing Kanga and this is my Roo.
Look! Aren’t her eyes the most wonderful hue?
(Lullaby, rockaby, lullaby loo).

The cleaning and scrubbing will wait till tomorrow,
For children grow up, as I’ve learned to my sorrow.
So quiet down, cobwebs. Dust go to sleep.
I’m rocking my baby and babies don’t keep.

To my young mama friends, love and enjoy your little ones. The time is fleeting and the days are short. I didn't believe it when I was young, but all of a sudden it happened. No one needed me to help them make a sandwich, wash their hands, learn to read or use the potty. Life keeps marching and they keep growing up. I'd not go back for anything because I love my older family. I love the talks and games and life that goes on here. I am trying to enjoy this stage and find all the joy of life that is to be found in it. This time is fleeting too and tomorrow is promised to no one.

Love your children.

Getting CashBACK for Shopping Online!

I am pretty excited about this as we do a lot of shopping online--and not just for Christmas! There are thousands of shops to choose from and it doesn't take long to get paid for doing so all year long! I have bought items from stores I know like Target and Sears, and discovered stores I'd never heard of simply because they were in the huge network I have to choose from.

I share it here because if I am going to buy things online, why not get #cashback to do so, right? When does that desire go away? Um, for me? Never.

I'd not share it here if I did not already see the results. I have. We are getting money back for Christmas shopping. :D
You've nothing to lose because it is FREE to sign up!
