Not for the dieting...

Do you ever just crave chocolate dessert? It almost does not matter *what* kind of chocolate dessert, but you just crave it? Usually I am sated with the bar at left if I happen to have one. Since the local Smart and Final sells them for a very reasonable price, that was not *so* terribly rare. (Or the occassional chocolate bar ends up in my mailbox due to a sly person's careful placement between books. )

Tonight though, I did not have one (as I have been more careful in my sweet purchases due to a serious lack of self control when it comes to dark chocolate). So, I pulled out my Hershey's Cocoa and went to work on the chewiest, softest, chocolatiest cookies I have had in a long time. :+) So, I provide the recipe below for all you other homeschool mothers who love chocolate and crave it after a long day!

Chewy Chocolate Cookies

11/4 C butter

2 C sugar

2 eggs

2 t vanilla

2 C unsifted flour

3/4 C Hershey's Cocoa

1 t baking soda

1/2 t salt

optional: 1 C nuts or 1 C white or dark chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 350. Mix sugar with butter until smooth. Add eggs, and vanilla then blend well. Then add cocoa, flour, soda, salt, and nuts/chocolate chips if you wish. (We did not add nuts or chocolate chips because they are just so good on their own!)

After mixed well, drop by spoonfulls onto ungreased baking pan. Bake in preheated oven for 8 minutes. Remove and set for 2 minutes and then place on cooling sheet. Enjoy!!!
